That was the moment I decided to look into an alternative to the existing TV service providers, and found OTA. There is a bustling and vibrant online community, with people just like you, building their own antennas, trading stories about their equipment and reception, and looking to help each other save significant dollars. In no time at all, I cut my TV cable bill to ZERO dollars a month. You can do it too!
You DON'T have to be very handy, you DON'T have to build your own antenna, you DON'T have to spend thousands of dollars to make this work. I collected the material, called some friends over Sunday afternoon, and by Sunday night the OTA dream was a reality. Tested the reception for a month and then called to cancel my TV cable subscription. It does take some getting used to as the channel selection is not comparable to cable offerings. For instance, I know people that love a channel called "TREEHOUSE TV" for babies and toddlers, and it is only available on cable. If you love this channel, or can't live without specialty programming, then OTA is not for you. Times are changing, the Internet is growing as a content delivery system for sports, regular prime time television, and specialty offerings. Take the cash you save on TV and max out your Internet bandwidth and speed! Take control of your leisure time back!
As a closing note, I was VERY surprised to see true HD picture and sound coming from my flat screen TV. I originally purchased the TV to play video games only, as the cost for HD programming, on top of regular cable TV fees, was simply too much to spend for a few additional channels. When following the links on this site you will constantly read about how the OTA HD signal is the BEST HD signal out there, and it is true. These signals are in the air, right now, waiting for you.
